Feel the Energy of Classic Rock Revived
Ryan is the front man and lead vocalist for American Slang. Growing up in Columbia, IL, he began showcasing his love for music in Concert Choir and Band. He later went on to do guest vocalist appearances at Songs for Soldiers and Tiny's Fest.
Ryan's musical influences include Blues, Country and Classic Rock. A few of his favorite artists are Muddy Waters, Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings, Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey. Favorite bands include Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink FLoyd and Credence Clearwater Revival.
Born and raised in South City, Nick was brought up on a steady diet of The Beatles, Clapton, Zeppelin, and Hendrix. From a very young age, his musical love was the blues. The first time he ever heard Hendrix's recording of Red House was a revelation.
Before joining American Slang, Nick was in Adam's Apples with keyboardist and master of harmonies Jed Bain.
Jed Bain brings his talents on keyboard and backup vocals to American Slang. Hailing from Columbia, IL, he grew up alongside bandmates Ryan and Brian, with their musical paths crossing several times before he officially joined the group. Jed has previously played with bands such as Where’s Charlie and Adam’s Apples. A longtime fan of The Grateful Dead and Steely Dan—two bands he jokingly notes aren’t known for their lead singers—he found the perfect fit in American Slang.
Brian plays electric bass as well as stand up bass. He has played in a number of bands from Hardcore / Metal to funk, rock, and Rockabilly / Country. The bands he previously played in are Hit List, Where’s Charlie, Pirate Satellite, and the Oysters Rockabilly band out of Boston MA.
Brian's favorite bass players are Billy Sheehan, Steve Harris, Jack Bruce, and Geddy Lee.
Andrew is the drummer and provides backup vocals for American Slang. Growing up in a small town in Southeast Missouri's Bootheel, he started playing drums at a young age and has enjoyed music of all genres ever since. Andrew has played in various bands since he was in college, including The Beer Pong Prophets, The Hollar, and Almost Always.
